Building with littleBits and LEGO

We design Great Ball Contraptions created entirely from official LEGO sets. And we made it really easy to get yourself started today too!
Meet also the rest of our GBC Family to see all our models (created from official LEGO Sets) and start building yourself using our building instructions!

littleBits Brick adapter

LittleBits launched their Brick adapter. So here you can find quick and easy tips and tricks to get you started. There are a number of challenges while building and integrating the two with each other.

We have made it easy for you to get starting building awesome machines from LEGO and littleBits. With our step by step building instructions you can construct our ball machines yourself and construct littleBits into them. Created from official LEGO sets so it’s easy for you to get the parts required and to get started. Click here to check out all our machines here.

1. Strengthen littleBits on the Brick adapters
You might find this usefull for applications where forces are applied, for example when using a littleBitsMotor. To prevent it from getting loose when forces are applied on the axle, use another Bit on the outputside of the Bit. We used one side of the wireBit. Note that on one side no wire is attached!

2. Vertical building
We used it for attaching the ButtonBit to a LEGO pillar. 2 hole-beams separated by 4 normal LEGO blocks fits perfectly. Also 2 thin LEGO plates work.

3. Center littleBits axle with LEGOaxle
Look very closely on which parts we use where. It all comes very critical!

4. Attach LEGO parts to the littleBits SlideBit
A LEGO hole fits perfectly over the SlideBit. Now you can make all kind of mechanisms around it. In the setup in the pictures below you can meassure angles and pressure.

5. Make Femalepins from Malepins
When you are short in the Femalepins Brickadapters and have some extra Malepins Brickadapters laying around you can use this technique to convert it.

6. Build in speakers
The speakers from the synthspeakerBit fits perfectly in a 4 by 4 LEGO grid.
