Demi Aboudara from Argentina build our GBC 19 Log Flume with great success and even created a very nice time lapse video of his hard work! This Great Ball Contraption is completely made from parts of the LEGO 42009 Mobile Crane MK II set. I think he wins prices for fastest builder ;)
Do you remember that the GBC 37 Ratchet Ride drives the conveyor belt in a vary unique manner? As the LEGO 42097 Compact Crawler Crane set does not include any sprockets to drive it we had to come up with a new mechanism to use the conveyor belt. A cleverly designed ratchet mechanism clicks into place and takes the belt up on every stroke upwards. This makes for the go-stop motion as you can see in the fan build below from Garin Taylor from Australia. Thanks for sharing the video with us.
Did you know that you can make 100% functional turntables from LEGO. We have developed an turntable needle (also called cartridge) which is compatible with the LEGO system. Simply build a constructions which can hold and spin a record and put the needle on. A lot of fun learning about physics, mechanics, music and more. For example, how does the speed of the turntable affect the sound produces and how to get the perfect turntable?
Since our launch of our GBC Glow Balls in 2019 many events and builders used the shiny balls in their Great Ball Contraption layouts. It always amazes us what builders can come up with for the glow in the dark GBCs! Amazing. Brickworld Chicago was the first event which went all in on the GBC Glow Balls as they came up with World of Lights. A moment during the day in which all of the lights in the convention hall are turned off for a couple of hours and the LEGO creations come to life in a new way. GBCs always felt short as you could not see the GBC Balls rolling around the machines. With our GBC Glow Balls this is something of the past.
Youtuber and AFOL Adam’s Brick Junction made a video of the GBC modules in the dark in action. Check it out yourself. Thanks for creating this wonderful video Adam!
Watch this hypnotizing video from Ronald Smeets from the Netherlands featuring our beloved GBC 21 Mine Factory. The smooth movements of GBC Balls, slow-motion footage and mesmerizing soundtrack really gets us totally relaxed for the upcoming week :) Enjoy!
Szilard Gyalay build our GBC 52 Flight Fair (made from the LEGO 42152 set) and got it working exactly like we intended it too. Great work on this and hopefully this gave you the inspiration to create your own Great Ball Contraptions as well in the near future :) He also made a review on our website (including video) for which we are really grateful. Thank you Szilard!
Here is his review: GBC 52 is a new twist on moving the balls. The catapult mechanism is a new and simple one. I loved the incorporation of the propellers to “propel the balls” so all can yet again line up for being deployed. All in all a solid build, some fine tooling required. Motor speed needs to be experimented with. Because of the lunching mechanism design, used a stronger engine. Simple . low cost and efficient.
