As the days grow shorter and the dark is taking over (on the Northern hemisphere), it is also the time of the year for cosy lights! When walking through the streets and city centre, more and more decoration is to be seen. At PV-productions we get quite excited seeing all the lights, so a couple of years ago we decided to bring this joy to our very own GBCs! Meet our Windmill Module!

Our lovely country, the Netherlands, is known for many things like tulips, clogs (aka wooden shoes) and … windmills! Although the Netherlands is not the first country to have build windmills (it were our dear Belgium neighbors in the 12th century), it is hard to think of the Netherlands without any windmills. From the 13th century onwards the mills were used for grinding grains. As the working mechanisms of the mills progressed and the people in the Netherlands wanted more land, a new purpose was found in the 15th century: drainage of the many polders. By draining the water from our polders, useful farming land was created to provide the people with food. Nowadays (since the end of the second world war) technology and factories have taken over, bringing the windmills to a halt. Fortunately the windmills are protected, so we can enjoy the view of the many windmills in our country!
