What is a LEGO GBC?
A LEGO GBC, short for Great Ball Contraption, is a machine made out of LEGO that continuously moves balls through different modules in a loop. Each module performs its own action, such as lifting, dropping, spinning or transporting balls to the next section.
GBCs combines engineering, creativity & education into one endlessly entertaining machine. Some builders create small standalone modules, while others connect many modules together into massive layouts.
At PV-Productions, all of our GBCs are designed as alternate builds. This means you can transform an existing LEGO set into a fully working Great Ball Contraption using our building instructions.
What You Need to Get Started
Getting started with GBC building is simple. In most cases you only need:
- A LEGO set compatible with one of PV-Productions building instructions
- PV-Productions GBC Balls
- PV-Productions building instructions
Using our instructions, you can rebuild an existing LEGO Technic set into a moving GBC module filled with lifts, tracks and mechanisms.
GBC Balls are the “cargo” of every contraption. They travel through lifts, drops, conveyors, and special effects before reaching the next module. A well-running GBC depends on smooth ball flow. Always make sure your balls move consistently without getting stuck or bouncing unpredictably.
The PV-Productions GBC Balls are available in three different styles: classic orange basketballs, clean white soccer balls, and special Glow in the Dark balls. All versions are designed for smooth and reliable GBC performance. The Glow Balls create an amazing effect in darker environments and become even more impressive when combined with UV lighting.

Our GBC Funnels add smooth spiraling ball movement to your GBC creations.
The funnels are specially designed to be fully LEGO compatible while providing shapes that are difficult to recreate using standard LEGO parts alone. GBC Balls spin smoothly around the funnel before dropping through the center, creating a mesmerizing effect.
We offer several funnel types, including:
- GBC Funnel XL – Because the GBC Funnel XL is so big it can handle many GBC Balls at the same time and keeps them spinning for many rounds. The shape fits the LEGO banana gears perfectly which is both satisfying and handy.
- GBC Funnel Gravity Well – Due to the unique shape of the GBC Funnel Gravity Well, the GBC Balls can be manipulated and deflect the ball path, resulting in wacky curves. In size this GBC Funnel meets the middle between the XL and Turbo Spin which gives the best trade off between GBC Ball Quantity and speed.
- GBC Funnel Turbo Spin – The inner shape of the GBC Funnel Turbo Spin is designed to redirect more energy from incoming GBC Balls so it can handle faster spins in turbo style 😎 It’s also the smallest and lightest GBC in the GBC Funnel family which makes it very easy to implement in the smaller GBCs. Because it’s so light, less supports are required, making it really easy to even incorporate it on too high to support locations.

Many of our building instructions include GBC Funnels as an optional upgrade, but builders also love using them in their own custom GBC designs.
Add Excitement with GBC Loopings
Our GBC Loopings bring rollercoaster-style action to your GBC.
Because the looping shape needs to be extremely smooth and precise, creating one from regular LEGO parts is very difficult. Our custom-designed loopings solve this problem while remaining fully LEGO compatible.
The GBC Loopings are easy to integrate into LEGO Technic builds and create an exciting “wow factor” as balls briefly travel upside down.
Loopings are ideal when you want:
