Meet Raaf – a surprisingly expressive GBC

Meet Raaf – a surprisingly expressive GBC

Last year at LEGO World Utrecht, BrickNerd challenged several builders to create a new GBC module only using parts from a single set. After the success of that competition and the following interest, we are bringing the challenge back for another round! The builders loved it, the crowd loved it, and it pushed all of us to be more creative. So here we are back again with a new set that has entered the arena…

After some discussion, the decision was made to use the LEGO 42168 John Deere Forage Harvester! The number of gears, the accessible price tag, and the challenge of working with a limited part selection made it the best fit for this year’s build.

After a week of intense building and collaboration our team won in the end with our GBC 61 Raaf

Last year’s model was built by others many times following our instructions, so it is truly amazing to see how the community has embraced it. Our main goal is simply to have fun during the event and sharing our design process, so seeing others enjoy and build our designs really means a lot. If you decide to build them, please share your version with us. We would love to see it.

Bricknerd (a LEGO news outlet) challenged us (together with Noah de Lange, Berthil van Beek and Kris Bollen) to make a GBC from the small LEGO 42168 John Deere 9700 Forage Harvester set. Due to the very limited parts selection it was indeed a good challenge where everyone contributed ideas from their own expertise. We had a blast designing it together and in the end we accomplished the goal of making a nice functional GBC which is also very satisfying to look at. Read the story on how this GBC was created
