PS: Would you rather see a video of the GBC 47 Mill Madness? No worries, we’ve got your back! Check out our social media/news page and we’ll update you when the video is online! In the mean time: have fun building!
How can a GBC be called Mill Madness if it would only consist out of one mill? It cannot! Hence, meet the Watermill Module! Just like a real Watermill, this module is not powered by a motor or some kind of mechanism. Instead the GBC balls push the 12 spokes, rotating the Watermill Module! Even though the GBC balls are quite light, they can make the whole module move, how cool is that?!
It’s Fun Fact Friday! This time: GBC 40 Tippy Tilt Trays!
Once we figured out all the mechanisms and functions we knew we still had to solve many problems. One of the biggest problems was making the mechanism work reliably and still making the complete structure very sturdy, using a minimal part count. Once again, we made it happen and it works beautifully.
Now the Holidays are over and things are going back to normal, it’s time for another Throwback Thursday! In today’s spotlight: The Zoetrope! I personaly like this build quite a lot, for various reasons. First it greatly reminds me of my childhood, watching Disney’s Tarzan I first stumbled across a zoetrope when Jane’s father used it to illustrate the meaning of the word ‘gorilla’. Let’s just say I felt quite as excited as Tarzan seemed to be. Now that I’m older, I see more than just the pictures coming alive. The perception is what interests me most at this particular moment in time. As the Zoetrope spins around, the pictures are turned around. Throught the slits one can see the pictures on the opposite side of the Zoetrope. Yet as the pictures are spinning around quite fast, the transmission and processing of what you see (with your eyes) to realizing what you see (with your brain) is not fast enough. The brain does not like to not comprehend what it is seeing, so it comes up with an alternative view: it combines the pictures so you see movement!*
I think it is safe to say that the Zoetrope is an inspiring build, fasciniting for both children and adults! And the best? Our building instructions are free!
The Triple Cardan Gear Lift, a Funnel, and the Windmill Module, together they make a nice GBC, wouldn’t you say? Well, at PV-Productions we try to do better than just nice! Check our posts over the upcoming weeks for the missing module of GBC 47 Mill Madness!
