It has never been easier to build a complete Great Ball Contraption (GBC) loop yourself! GBC 27 features an epic pinball field whit many user interaction possibilities. Using a more accessible LEGO Set and focusing on one single mechanism this GBC is by far one of the best GBCs to get started.

This GBC is entirely built using only parts from the LEGO Hovercraft and can be referred to as model C of the 42076. This GBC makes sure you master the GBC building techniques and tricks so that you eventually also can build your own GBCs. The whole machine is powered by hand on default but can easily be upgraded with any LEGO motor (more information in the building instructions).

Instant fun with balls going everywhere!

Pinball machines are always fun! So is our GBC 27 Pinball Madness Module which features an epic pinball play field with many interactions and awesome mechanics.

When powering the GBC (by hand or motor) an efficient mechanical Stepper Module kicks in action which pumps a lot of GBC balls to the top of the pinball play field.  This makes that the GBC is self contained so it can run on it’s own for many hours on end. Because of the high consistent ball flow many GBC balls can be in the pinball machine at the same time.

The proud and most prominent part of the machine is taken up by the big and wide pinball play field which takes up around 80% of the GBC surface. The play field incorporates a few automatic functions as well as manual ball interaction possibilities. This makes the GBC 27 even more fun to watch and play!
A rotating arm really knocks the ball out of their path. The Shooter Module can be operated manually to shoot balls back again to the top. Just like a real pinball machine. A right sided pinball flipper can also be triggered manually to shoot the balls up again to give the player a new chance to score.
You can adjust the speed of the GBC Balls coming down by adjusting the slope of the playing field. The user can control the slope of the whole play field by lowering or raising the back stands.
The play field is designed to modify it to your own needs and wishes. Due to the many connection options you can easily change and add elements to the play field yourself (using remaining parts) and start creating your own epic games. Which cool layouts and elements can you some up with?

Important note: Next to the LEGO 42076 parts you also need 1 regular rubber band for the flipper mechanism (size and strength doesn’t really matter, more info in the building instructions).

Fun Fact

Although the LEGO 42076 Hovercraft has many parts, it was really challenging to use them in an as efficient way as possible to get the most out of this awesome set. Creativity really took off after investigating the parts closer and coming up with awesome ideas. Many modules were created in the design process but only a few of them survived the review stage and finally ended up being used in the GBC 27 Pinball Madness Machine. These “discarded” ideas can perhaps be used in a new upcoming GBC.

Upgrade your GBC 27 Pinball Madness Machine

To enhance the fun and play and to take the GBC 27 Pinball Madness Machine one step further we have optional parts available.
In the building instructions is explained how to easily upgrade the GBC 27 Pinball Madness Machine with various parts.

Power & Automate

Unfortunately LEGO set 42076 doesn’t include a LEGO motor. For that reason, the GBC 27 Pinball Madness Machine is by default powered by hand. However we designed pre-designed motor mounts so you can easily upgrade the GBC 27 Pinball Madness Machine with any of the LEGO Motors available and make it go on it’s own.
How cool is that!

  1. Patrick

A well built and solid GBC.

The movements are pleasant to watch, especially the climb of the stairs by the balls which is even fantastic !

Once again, when looking at the bricks used to build the model, especially the staircase, and their number in sufficient quantity, we would think that the original set was made for this GBC !

The gameplay of the pinball machine allows some interaction, which is not always possible with a GBC.
The possibility to add a Lego motor is also an undeniable advantage to be able to play it.

    Excellent work !

This is my first ever GBC build, and I like it. It was pretty easy to build and I ordered GBC
glowballs with it. I have been building legos for 4 years and I like this GBC better than the hovercraft.

This was my first ever GBC build, and it was hugely enjoyable. It was amazing to see the stepper module come together – it’s mesmerising to watch! The interactive elements made the GBC’s operation even more interesting with pieces left to make some obstacles of your own. There is a fair bit of flex in the structure but this is easily reduced with a few basic liftarms/beams from your own collection.

The ingenuity of this alternative build is so impressive, you would honestly think Lego had picked the pieces specifically to make this GBC. I found the challenge and enjoyment of the build considerably more satisfying than the donor hovercraft model. Thanks!

This GBC 27 was very fun to build and the support was excellent. my grandchild loves to play with this model. He can watch the balls running and always smile. Definitely recommend this one!

    Dear Team,

I think the models of PV-Productions are a really good idea. At school I builded several models togehter with our pupils (at the age of 12). We are really surprised because you have creative ideas and the instructions are really helfpul. Many tanks!

I bought the lego model 42076 in order to construct the GBC 27 Pinball Madness Machine. It was interesting to build it and I am also surprised of the way the model works. Very good.

In May 2019 we are organizing a show of serveral lego models. There we will also show one or two of your constructions. I think that our guests will be surprised.

    With Kind regards
    Jürgen Grund

If you don't have the required LEGO set there is still a chance you can build our models by using parts you already have. Most technic models use a lot of the same and/or replaceable parts. When watching the video and checking upon the building instructions you can easily see which parts can be replaced if you desire so.
What cool color designs can you come up with?!
