It has never been easier to build a complete Great Ball Contraption (GBC) loop yourself! This GBC is entirely built using only parts from the LEGO 42129 4x4 Mercedes-Benz Zetros Trial Truck set and can be referred to as Alternate Build of the 42129. When building this GBC it makes sure you master the GBC building techniques and tricks so that you eventually also can build your own GBCs. The whole machine is powered by a LEGO motor which comes with the LEGO 42129 set and controlled/programmed via the official LEGO Powered Up App or Pybricks.
This GBC is established in collaboration with Jorian Doornenbal who shares the same passion what we have for building great ball contraptions.

Double pump equals double capacity!

One of the most iconic GBC modules is now ready to build from your LEGO 42129 4x4 Mercedes-Benz Zetros Trial Truck set. The GBC 59 Double Ball Pump is part of our bigger GBC 57 Robotic Control Center which features even more cool GBC modules after this one!
The GBC Balls enter the GBC at the input bin. This bin can handle many GBC Balls at the same time. The 2 Ball Pumps (hence the name) push the GBC Balls up, one by one.
By default the GBC module is configured for loop mode. In loop mode the GBC Balls will fall back into the input bin so the ball flow never ends.
A really cool feature of the GBC 59 Double Ball Pump is its ability to switch between loop mode and layout mode. For the layout mode you simply have to tilt the output ramp down and add your other GBC Modules to the back. In this way you can easily connect this GBC to all our other GBCs to make the loop even bigger. More information in the building instructions.
So what are you waiting for? Get the building instructions and start pumping some GBC Balls today!

Fun Fact

As with each of our bigger GBCs it is possible to build the machine in submodules which all click together in the end. This makes it very easy to build and collaborate as everyone can build a submodule. The GBC 57 Robotic Control Center (The big GBC where this free module is part of) includes a very neat ball pusher module with a clever mechanism inside. We want all builders to enjoy it so we decided to give it away for free for anyone to build. Hope you enjoy building it and seeing it in action once finished :)

1 review for GBC 59 Double Ball Pump – 42129 Building Instructions

  1. Szilard Gyalay

Great little build. Built from spare parts , added a bit of extra protection so the balls stay within the perimeter. Yet again a free build with a lot of potential only needing spare parts . Great job PV-Productions

Software - The easy way

After building the GBC 59 Double Ball Pump you can control the machine using the official LEGO Powered Up App or the Pybricks software. Both options have their advantages and disadvantages. We recommend Pybricks but read all the differences down below.

Pybricks

Control the GBC 59 Double Ball Pump independently with code that runs locally on the LEGO Powered Up Hub. No paired phone/tablet required after programming.

After you have some experience with the software we encourage you to modify our software and make it your very own. What new features can you come up with?
Download the Pybricks Python code below and go to the Pybricks programming environment for further explanation.

LEGO Powered Up App

Control the GBC 59 Double Ball Pump using the official LEGO Powered Up App, available on Android smartphones, tablets, Iphones and Ipads. This allows you to create custom software and add a user interface which is carefully explained in the building instructions.

If you don't have the required LEGO set there is still a chance you can build our models by using parts you already have. Most technic models use a lot of the same and/or replaceable parts. When watching the video and checking upon the building instructions you can easily see which parts can be replaced if you desire so.
What cool color designs can you come up with?!

Optionally you can also directly import the part list to Rebrickable. Some warnings may pop up during importing due to part/color number inconsistencies between databases. Most of the time these are not to worry about and Rebrickable will give you a nice overview of it.
