It has never been easier to build a complete Great Ball Contraption (GBC) loop yourself! This GBC is one of the bigger GBCs we have ever created so far. It is way bigger than the original LEGO model and it features multiple GBC modules which all work together in harmony to make a full loop so the ball flow will never end. This GBC is entirely built using only parts from the LEGO Air Race Jet set and can be referred to as model C of the 42066. When building this GBC makes sure you master the GBC building techniques and tricks so that you eventually also can build your own GBCs. The whole machine is powered by one LEGO motor which comes with the LEGO 42066 Set.

Golf in style, like a Pro!

Why golf when a machine can do the job for you?!

The GBC 33 Goofy Golf Park features multiple unique mechanisms designed to accomplish 1 task. Hit and shoot a GBC Balls from A to B. While building GBC 33 you will learn basic engineering at its best. Think of gearing, forces, mathematics, sturdy constructions, automation, cool mechanism like the ratchet mechanism, synchronized levers and so much more!

The GBC Balls start of in the Input box where they will also be collected after the balls have been shot. You can also output other GBC Modules to this place so you can make the GBC Loop even bigger. Next, multiple clever mechanisms work together in a synchronized and mesmerizing way to prepare the GBC Balls for launch and eventually shoot them away. On every rotation one GBC Ball will be fired away.

The Launch Platform takes care of 3 functions at the same time. First a slick Pump Module pumps the balls one by one up through a channel to the Shooting Deck. We left one side of the vertical pump channel open so you can easily see and follow each ball go up to the launch platform.
Next it is important to hold the GBC Ball properly in place. A hole will be created by a Stepper module and a GBC Ball will fall in. We then slowly rise the Stepper Mechanism so that the GBC Ball is flush with the Shooting Deck.
We also wanted to make sure that every hit of the GBC Balls would be unique so every ball will have a different experience. We accomplished this variation by making the hole a bit bigger than the GBC Ball. In this way the shoot position of the GBC Ball is different every time.
The third step involves the shooting of the GBC Ball and hit them as hard as possible. A mechanism slowly pulls the Shooting Arm back as far as possible and releases it at the very end. This results in a powerful but controlled way to shoot GBC Balls away.
All 3 mechanisms described above work closely together to make sure that the timing is spot on and every hit is a winner.

Once a GBC Ball is shot, the adventures golf parkours begin.
Multiple routes are possible and each route will return to the Input Bin again so that the loop never ends. First the GBC Balls are being slammed to a ramp which hopefully gets them over the gap and on to the next challenge. Secondly the Windmill Module does its best to hold back the GBC Balls. If GBC balls don’t reach the end or e.g. hit the windmill they will be guided to a return path back to the Input Bin.

Another route involves that the GBC Balls to roll on to the GBC Funnel XL Module which for sure gives a good spin to the GBC Balls. If the GBC Balls fall of the edge of the parkour, they will hit the Spinner Tire and return to the Input Bin.

A really cool feature of the GBC 33 Goofy Golf Park is his ability to convert with ease into a GBC Layout Module. You can simply add multiple other modules to the input box so balls can enter the GBC. On the right side the GBC Balls can exit the Golf Park again. Clean and simple: Convert with ease. We have made it easy to create your own in and output according to the GBC rulesIn this way you can easily connect this GBC to all our other GBCs to make the loop even bigger.

Important note: The Golf Shooter Module in the GBC 33 Goofy Golf Park requires a small rubber band which is NOT included in the LEGO 42066 Set. The official LEGO Rubber Band 15 mm (70902 / 85543 / 89815) can be used but really any rubber band will do. We also used 4 bigger rubber bands for the 2 bouncing corners. Again, any rubber band will do the job and they can easily be found at your local hardware store.
We also have the correct Rubber Bands available. Get it here!

Fun Fact

The Shooter Module includes 3 smaller mechanisms which work beautifully together to get a perfect hit every time! Designing these complex mechanisms in the most efficient, compact and reliable way possible really took the inner engineer out of us again. By spending a lot of hard work and brain power in this sub part alone we were able to succeed again. Incorporating our GBC Funnel XL in the GBC 33 was one of the easiest tasks and felt like a pleasant change of workload ;)

A flashback in our childhood, when we played with some table flipper, when pulling a knob was only the beginning of a jurney in the fun.

The project have some fun and clever solution in the load and launch mechanism, but also need some tweaks in the first return path (the black thin one on the left of the launch mechanism) which has too low inclination.

Nothing really hard to think to. The needed pieces are also in the 42066 set.

    Nice job as ever!

If you don't have the required LEGO set there is still a chance you can build our models by using parts you already have. Most technic models use a lot of the same and/or replaceable parts. When watching the video and checking upon the building instructions you can easily see which parts can be replaced if you desire so.
What cool color designs can you come up with?!
