Controlled via Powered Up

Szilard Gyalay from Switzerland built our GBC 43 Rocking Raiser and completed the fun by adding a LEGO Powered Up motor to the machine. Via the Powered Up app he is able to program the speed by which the GBC Balls go up. Great to see this interaction and thanks for sharing with us!

Have you also build one of our models yourself?

Tips & Tricks Tuesday: Team Building

Do you usually build your lego technics sets/GBCs alone or do you build together with others? Although building with Lego is often looked upon as a solitary hobby, you can easily do it together with others! Even better: as the GBCs consist out of multiple modules, multiple people (or even groups!) can have their own project within the same GBC!

Throwback Thursday: GBC 28 Pneumatic Scissor Elevator

It’s time for a Thorwback Thursday! In today’s spotlight: the GBC 28 Pneumatic Scissor Elevator.

What makes this GBC quite different from the other GBCs is that this GBC uses very few gears for the amount of movement. Instead the biggest action within this GBC is powered by airflow! As the valves open and close, the horizontal and vertical pneumatic cylinders are alternately activated, forcefully directing air into different directions. The effect? The scissor elevator moves up and down in a perfect choreography!

Fun Fact Friday GBC 31 Flex Conveyor!

Fun Fact: Although we had a pretty clear idea of all the functions we could include it was a real challenge to incorporate them using only the parts of the LEGO set. From a design standpoint we also wanted to have all the control handles on one side so it’s easier to adjust and play with it.

STEAM Education

Keep up the fun while learning!

As many of you may have already experienced, building GBCs is not just about building a machine, it’s also a lot about technique and physics. Within the GBCs different aspects of physics (eg. forces, torques and gearings) are used to obtain the different modules. To involve people in this extra ‘level’ of the GBCs, we organize STE(A)M (Science, Technology, Engineering, (Arts) and Mathematics) Education Workshops. Depending on the audience (eg. friends, schools, companies), the focus of the workshop shifts to match and optimize both the learning proces and fun!

Check the video below for an example of one of our workshops!
