It has never been easier to build a complete Great Ball Contraption (GBC) loop yourself! GBC 24 features a Sturdy rocking module which covers a full loop so the ball flow never ends. Using a more accessible LEGO Set and focusing on one single mechanism this GBC is by far the best GBC to get started.

This GBC is entirely built using only parts from the LEGO 42060 Roadwork Crew set and can be referred to as model C of the 42060. This GBC makes sure you master the GBC building techniques and tricks so that you eventually also can build your own GBCs. The whole machine is powered by hand on default but can easily be upgraded with any LEGO motor (more information in the building instructions).

Master gearing & mechanisms

Learn about the wonderful world of mechanisms by building our GBC 24 Road Pump which features a highly efficient Pump Lift Module. The main idea is based on inserting balls on the bottom of the module, pumping them up and push other balls out on the top. This is done by a rail which is filled up with balls. New inserted ball pushes the first ball out again. By mounting the rail on an angle you get a height difference which the module uses in it’s advantage.
The balls will be pushed out of the rail and return to the base via the return path. By doing so the loop will never end. The input box of this GBC also includes an ball unclogging system which prevents the GBC Balls from getting stuck.
This GBC has an extra feature which allows you to easily remove the return path and put your GBC 24 in a bigger loop and combine with other GBC Modules.

Fun Fact

Designing a GBC from such small part inventory really took all the ingenuity and experience we gathered over the years. Parts are being used in a new way and many problems had to be solved for getting this GBC to work and making it sturdy and reliable. Using over 95% of the parts that come with the set we really did get the best and most out of the original LEGO 42060 set. There was a real challenge to build a GBC from such a small set but we succeeded again.

Upgrade your GBC 24 Road Pump

To enhance the fun and play and to take the GBC 24 Road Pump one step further we have optional parts available.
In the building instructions is explained how to easily upgrade the GBC 24 Road Pump with various parts.

Power & Automate

Unfortunately LEGO set 42060 doesn’t include a LEGO motor. For that reason, the GBC 24 Road Pump is by default powered by hand. However we designed pre-designed motor mounts so you can easily upgrade the GBC 24 Road Pump with any of the LEGO Motors available and make it go on it’s own.
How cool is that!
