Do you also love the LEGO Powered Up system and their cool programmable interfaces? But what about the previous generation smart motors? Also known as LEGO Mindstorms. What if we could make them compatible and connect them to the LEGO Powered Up system? Well, we did just that!

 

Plug & Play

 

We have developed a smart Powered Up to EV3/NXT Adapter which is 100% compatible with all the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 and NXT and all the Powered Up hubs like LEGO Boost, LEGO WeDo, LEGO Spike, LEGO Control+ and more.

No electronics knowledge is needed and installation is as easy as connecting the power connector to the compatible LEGO power system. Connect a LEGO Mindstorms EV3/NXT motor/actuator to the adapter and you are ready to go. A big advantage is the ability to use the stronger motor to a single Powered Up port. You can control direction, power and speed by using the Powered Up remote control or the programmable interface on a mobile device.

Depending on the type your choose, the programmable interfaces on mobile devices and Powered Up remote control will detect the adapter as a train motor or normal motor. You can always program and speed control the motor with the official LEGO Powered Up app (or third party applications) without any limitation!
Expand without any border and have full control!

* You cannot use the EV3/NXT sensors with this adapter!
* You cannot use the integrated EV3/NXT motor encoders with this adapter!

 

To test if the Powered Up to EV3/NXT Adapter is working properly you can test it with our sample programs. You can find these and more information in the software tab above.     Why did I not fin d this adapter earlier, would save me so much frustrating. Finally can I use my nxt motors with the new system from lego. why does lego not make this themselves…

Software - The easy way


After connecting the Powered Up to EV3/NXT Adapter (with LEGO Powered Up connector) correctly you can control it using the official LEGO Powered Up App or the Pybricks software. Both options have their advantages and disadvantages.

Pybricks

Control the Powered Up to EV3/NXT Adapter independently with code that runs locally on the LEGO Powered Up Hub. No paired phone/tablet required after programming.
